Voices: Manitoba’s Youth in Care Network provides support, encouragement, and advocacy to young people in and from care in Manitoba.  We come alongside youth while they are in care, as they transition to in(ter)dependence, and as they grow into adults pursuing their goals.  We are youth-driven and youth-focused.

We raise awareness of the challenges youth-in-care face, educating the public and working with child welfare professionals to create a better system of care in Manitoba.  Improving living  conditions for children and youth who find themselves in alternative care, such as foster homes, group homes, and independent living programs.

Our programs and activities are open to all youth in & from care 12 to 30 years old. We have a growing youth membership comprised of the many cultures and ethnicities that reside in Manitoba.

Voices Network Retreat
Sep 27 – Sep 29 all-day

Hey Friends!

Youth in and from care from across Manitoba, ages 12-24, are invited to join us for a weekend of learning, sharing, and making friends.  At our Network retreats, we learn more about ourselves, our connections to community, and ways use our experiences to be empowered.  We also climb things, jump off things, swim, go for walks by the lake, and play weird games.

This weekend will be the official launch of the strategic plan for Voices over the next three years.  This plan grew from consultations with youth in and from care across our province, with input from adult allies and other youth-serving organizations.

We’re going to look at what’s happening for young people in and from care across Manitoba:  What’s good? What could be improved? What do we need the helpers and decision-makers to know? We’ll gather our ideas and find ways to take positive action, so that together, we are helping to create a better system of care in our province.

The cost is $150 per person, and this is usually covered by your agency.  There are subsidies available, especially for alumni of care who are no longer supported by an agency.  Call or email for more information!
