Voices: Manitoba’s Youth in Care Network provides support, encouragement, and advocacy to young people in and from care in Manitoba.  We come alongside youth while they are in care, as they transition to in(ter)dependence, and as they grow into adults pursuing their goals.  We are youth-driven and youth-focused.

We raise awareness of the challenges youth-in-care face, educating the public and working with child welfare professionals to create a better system of care in Manitoba.  Improving living  conditions for children and youth who find themselves in alternative care, such as foster homes, group homes, and independent living programs.

Our programs and activities are open to all youth in & from care 12 to 30 years old. We have a growing youth membership comprised of the many cultures and ethnicities that reside in Manitoba.

Harry Potter Pt 7 and 8
Aug 18 all-day

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the two-part sequel to the series.  We’ve watched our fictional bro-from-care fight evil creatures, eat weird magic candy, walk around under a magic cloak, and whiz around on his broomstick.  How does the story end?!?!

We’ll have snacks and crafty projects out, and take a few Zumba breaks to get our blood flowing throughout the day.  10am to 4pm.

Open to all youth in and from care, ages 12-18.

Fostering Change: A Night in Support of Youth in Care
Aug 20 @ 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Voices: Manitoba’s Youth in Care Network is only one of the provincial youth in care networks across Canada.  We are proud members of Youth in Care Canada, formerly known as National Youth in Care Network.  We are currently represented on their board by Manitoba alumni of care, Mike McGuire.

YICC does great work joining the voices of youth in care and alumni of care across Canada to help make a better system of care.  Over the years they have produced a number of reports and trainings based on lived experiences and research.

On Sunday, August 20th, 2017, YICC will be hosting a fundraiser in Ottawa, Ontario.  We’re a long way from Ottawa, but you can still support their efforts by purchasing a ticket so a local youth can attend, or making a donation towards their programming and research.  All contributions are appreciated!
