We are always looking for volunteers to help with programs and projects! Here are some ways you can be involved:
Alumni of Care: Sometimes, once you’ve been out of care for a while, you feel drawn to reach back and help someone who’s still in the thick of it. Alumni of care over the age of 24 are invited to volunteer as one-on-one mentors to youth ages 12 to 18, or as part of an adult support team at our activities and retreats.
Volunteer Grandparents: All new parents have questions about raising their child. We’re looking for ‘grandparents’, people who have raised children and have advice and support to give based on their experience. Mentor one-on-one or as part of a team at activities geared towards young parents in and from care.
Advisory Committee: The Voices Advisory Committee runs from September to June every year. Members take the lead on planning larger Voices events, like the Voices Family Christmas Party, Scholarship Fundraising, Earl Cook Classic hockey game, and the Garbage Bag Fashion Show. They also provide advice and feedback to Voices staff. Youth in and from care, members of the community, and child welfare professionals are welcome to apply.
General Public: You just want to help, and that is awesome and appreciated! Let’s talk about your hobbies and skills, and find where you fit!
All of our volunteer applicants must complete a child abuse registry check and criminal record check. Applicants must participate in the volunteer orientation provided by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg.
